APC has taken a significant step to level-set the decision process between printing technologies for their customers. APC will begin engraving cylinders in-house in May of 2019 and create 11 new positions in Columbus Wisconsin. Controlling this process will shorten the turnaround time for engravings while better controlling the quality and the cost of rotogravure cylinders.

Columbus, WI— April 25, 2019 — American Packaging Corporation has announced another investment to sustain their leadership position and the growth trajectory of their rotogravure printed flexible packaging business. American Packaging will begin engraving cylinders in-house on a world class system in the Summer of 2019. This investment will benefit American Packaging customers with greater control of both cylinder costs and quality. The response time for customers will condense for product launches and design changes.

“Brand owners sometimes struggle when considering which print process best meets their business needs and budgets. APC has subject matter expertise and world-class capabilities with advanced flexographic, rotogravure and digital printing systems that offer options to our customers. Our broad-based capabilities leave our experts to be “process neutral” when discussing alternatives with customers. We are taking this step to create an environment where process decisions for customers become less cost driven and more focused on what is right for their brand. By controlling more steps of the process, we will reduce the speed to market, assure control of the consistency and quality of their cylinders, and protect our customer’s investments. Our customers will be able to focus on growing their brands and not their budgets.” said Jeff Koch, President of American Packaging Corporation.

    Positive Customer Impact

APC customers will see cylinders from this new system on line-in the Columbus and DeForest Wisconsin Roto Centers of Excellence in June of 2019. The system will be in place to support the newest presses that are on order for the expansion of the DeForest Wisconsin facility in 2020. The APC Wisconsin Rotogravure Complex in Columbus and nearby DeForest is known as the largest concentration of roto printing presses dedicated to flexible packaging in the America’s. American Packaging, a leading flexible packaging converter has committed to maintain their prominent position in rotogravure, flexographic and digital printing technologies.
